Rameshwaram Trip….

Published by Piyush Gupta under Chennai Days, Personal, Travel

Last weekend we went to Rameshwaram, Maduri and trichy. It was really a very gud experience being there and feel close to god. we started from chennai on 29th December in train to Rameshwaram.Train dropped us at rameshwaram around  6 AM in morning.First step at rameshwaram station I was feeling like what a place is this (Actually Railway Station looks like some set of 70’s Hindi movie). From there we hired an auto and directly went into town searching for a hotel. But all the hotels were booked and finally after 2 hours of search we got some so so hotel at very high price of Rs.600. But we dont have any other choice so we decided to check in. After being relaxed for half an hour we changed the clothes and ready to go to the dham (temple).

There is a standard procedure for pooja. First you have to go sea beach and take bath than without changing your clothes you enter into the temple and there are 22 kund (ponds). You have to take bath with water of every kund and every kund water tastes different. After that you went into the temple. It was really a big fun doing all this big procedure :) and moreover all our tiredness was gone.

From there we went to some more places in Rameshwaram. There are about 5-6 more places to visit and we hired one auto for seeing all those places. Firstly we went to some temple. From there we decided to go to Dhanushkoti(The South end of India) but auto was not agreed to go there because the place is totally destroyed by a cyclone in 1964 and there is no road to went there but he agreed to take us to as much near as much he can. We went to somewhere near to dhanushkoti and there I have enjoyed with silence of nature and sea. From there we went to other places in rameshwaram. Finally we came back to hotel room around 4 PM.

Now we were planning to either go to maduri and stay there or move to maduri early morning and stay in rameshwaram that night, and we decided to stay.
Early morning on 31st we hired the sumo and moved to maduri. The way was too gud and we basically did timepass with playing cards. We reached maduri around 10AM morning and went to the most famous Meenaxi temple. Meenaxi temple is really huge one temple and really too much big we got tired just after completing around 30-40% of the temple, also we have to leave for trichy on same day so we decided to move. From meenaxi temple we moved to some more places in maduri basically temples and one museum.
We left maduri in evening around 5PM and take bus for trichy. We reached trichy around 9PM and checked in a hotel around 10.We relaxed for some time and went for dinner. After dinner we were thinking what to do on New Year eve as there was nothing to do at all. We celebrated new year with some pepsi and snacks and suddenly everyone’s phones rings up for wishes from their friends. Next morning we hired a cab to travel trichy. There are some very gud temple at trichy also. I like the Rock ford temple, it have 437 stairs to reach the main temple.  ;)
In evening we left trichy for Chennai and reached Chennai next day morning and back to work. :)

All in all it was really very gud trip and I enjoyed a lot with my friends it was much much better trip than my expectations.

Ooty Trip…

Published by Piyush Gupta under Personal, Travel

Last weekend, finally after a lot of troubles, a lot of problems and a lot of issues,on 23th August 2007 we 6 people went to ooty for outing.  It was 9PM train from chennai central(station) to Mettupalayam. 6AM was the train reaching time , thank god we waked at 6:15 and train was still there at station :P (because it was last stop of train).

We had taken bus from Mettupalayam to ooty and reached ooty around 10AM and same as usual u do on a trip booked room and then ready for some ooty travel. We hired bikes ,first we went to Botanical Garden (most famous part of ooty) and frankly speaking it is too gud for a botany students but was boring for us.

So we left that garden early and ridesto The Dodabetta Peak (the highest point in south india). After a long time I feel winters(in south india) :) dodabetta is a very ncie peak from there you can even see coonoor(using telescope). We came back from there around 7PM and went to ooty market no one is in a mood to buy anything still we went to market dont know why ;) Market was gud.We came back room after taken dinner around 10PM and chatted till 2Am & then sleep.

Saturday morning we went for connor(another hill station about 18 Km from ooty). We have taken lunch there in conoor and first place to see there was Sim’s Park, another park like that Botanical Garden…boring…. we started our bikes and went to place called Lamb’s rock..what a beautiful site seen and views of mountains were their awsome …

next to Lamb’s rock is a viewpoint called Dolphin’s Nose its an An exceptional rock of incredible proportions and is really a eye catching rock.(Also we were on bikes so its a very pleasent journey and we enjoyed every part of it). We came back to ooty at night and went ooty market. That night was most tired one and we fall asleep as soon as we came back to room.

last and final day(Sunday) we heard about a place called pykara 8KM from ooty. So we decided to go to pykara and will catch our train whose timing was 3PM . But that was wrong information actually pykara was 21 KM from ooty and without knowing that we started our journey when we reached 9-10 KM away from ooty and asked people about pykara they said “12Kms from here” we got shocked but there is no back point so we again drive our bikes to pykara. But as we have seen the place(the dam and the waterfall) and the views there that was really really awsome. Anyone who went to ooty must go and see pykara.

Now while we are coming back from pykara petrol in one of our three bikes was over :( we decided one bike will move to nearest petrol pump which was be atleast 10-15 KM from that place and other two bikes are coming behind. Somehow we arranged some petrol and reached ooty around 1PM we was very hungry so went to “Dhaba Express” for breakfast cum lunch and enjoyed that. After that we went to ooty station to catch toy train for Mettupalayam.

In the toy train site seens were really awsome. And we reached to Mettupalayam and catch our train back to chennai. We reached chennai monday morning 5AM and 10AM we were at office same boring work boring office :P

All in all it was a really gud tour. If anyone ever wanna travel ooty just hire bikes and have fun there. One bike hardly costs around Rs.350/day.

Logging out with sweet memories of ooty…
